being a teen i am able to honestly say that i have never texted or even talked on my cell phone in the care. No person or thing is so important
that i would let it get in the way of my pleasurable drive in the X. I love driving my car and texting would take me away from its fun.



Long story short...if everyone drove x5s....all texting accidents would be eliminated

I'm sure there are a lot of responsible teenage drivers but media hype it isn't. It's a matter of record that teen age drivers are inexperienced drivers. That inexperience makes them prone to make mistakes other experienced driver don't make. Add text messaging to that and it's a receipe for disaster. And i would agree cars don't kill. Inexperienced drivers are more prone to cause accidents, and that very well could kill.

I'm not gonna lie and say I've never done it, but last night I spent my seven miles on US1 on the phone. My older co-worker today asked what was wrong with me, he left ten minutes later but caught up with me doing the limit. I generally slow down when I'm distracted and have a bluetooth. The most distracting thing though, is trying to get the phone off of bluetooth in order to not mute out the navigation.

That, and texting is stupid to do while driving, but if I'm in open traffic (noone near me) I'll read one, but I never send them while driving.



I'm also gonna say that when my golddigger neighbor backed into someone's car in a parking lot...

...guess what was glued to her head? and according to the police blotter, she's 43. (hypocrites)

How can drink driving be the no.1 killer on the roads if young drivers are?
But, from experience, I'm not gonna lie that another year of maturity would probably be benificial.
I can tell that from my gas mileage.

It isn't youth, it is inexperience.

A while back about a mile from my house there was a insane accident. Two cars were racing and a girl pulled out of a park and ride in front of them. Now, had the girl been a more experienced driver she would have realized the oncoming traffic was seriously exceeding the speed limit and the better plan would be to let them pass then pull out. It isn't so much know how to drive as how to avoid bad situations....like the rest of life.

talk about danger of cellphone and distraction experience. i had one of those just couple of months ago in this situation:
-driving at 65mph on dulles toll road
-exit is 100 yards away and i am in the far left lane
-my kids cd is blasting the interior and shouting out they want to skip songs
-my wife is handing me the easy pass
-my sister just called me to ask for direction which exit we are taking (she is behind me)
-3 lanes to change to take the exit.
-i accidentally change my nuvi 350 to australian accent and it is asking to take the exit now...
imagine all of that happening at the same time.
after that, i promised myself i never let myself in the same situation again. damn close.

Not only text messaging but even just talking on the phone is dangerous as your mind is not focusing on driving. Recently, while riding my motorbike I was almost hit by an SUV driven by a young woman who was talking intensively on the phone. She obviously was not paying attention at what was going on on the road when she just did a U turn in front of me. Fortunately I learnt to be very careful with people driving and talking on the phone. When I saw her coming from the other direction at the cross road and talking on her phone I anticipated some stupid behavior and Bingo! it happened. If I had not been aware of a possible wrong move from her I would have hit her car. The combination of phone and inexperienced driver is a killer.

Um...kids can drink illegally, thereby putting them in both groups.
