I got out and confirmed with her that we passed the field and had to turn around. We headed out of the parking lot. Before you could get out of the lot you came to a four way stop. As she pulled up (with me behind her) a cop pulled up to the four way stop. He waived her through, she went. I then pulled up and stopped. He didn't move. So I waived for him to go and he just sat there. I proceeded through the intersection and as soon as I did he turned his lights on and pulled me over. I asked him what exactly I was being pulled over for........."suspicious maneuvers in a parking lot". I said "what?". He asked me questions for the next 10 minutes about why I pulled in and stopped and was now leaving.

I'm not BS'ing you, this is a 100% true story.

Another fun one:

I was coming home from a girlfriends house one night at about midnight. I'm driving through some back roads of my neighborhood at the posted speed limit (odd for me). I come past a fire station where I see a cop hiding by a sign, I think nothing of it as I wasn't drinking and was going the speed limit...so what would I have to worry about? Well SHO NUFF, as soon as I pass the cop....he flips on the R2D2 siren and pulls me over. He then busts out his too cool for school MagLite and shines it in my car and my face. I asked him why he pulled me over, "routine inspections". What fun.

Geez that's pretty dumb. I didn't think "routine inspections" was a legal excuse unless it was a sobriety checkpoint (which it wasnt)

Think about this. Signs like this are posted after engineering surveys are done and it is deem from the research that a u-turn would be inappropriate at the intersection in question. Point in fact this is not a revenue raising ticket as you describe. It is a traffic flow regulation issue which you clearly violated.

It's the same thing i violated just the other day. I got off the freeway made my stop at the red light and as i would normally do at a red light i would wait for the traffic to clear then proceed thru the red light making a legal right turn. All that's good except there's a sign posted on a pole which said "NO RIGHT TURN ON RED" So as i turned there was a motorcycle cop sitting there waiting. I was nabbed. Was i angry and fussing? After all he should have been after other folks who were doing dangerous stuff like excessive speeding or blowing through red lights, right? No. Plain and simple i broke the law.

So i said here we go first ticket in ages and sure enough the officer reached for his handlebars and for some reason leaned back and watched as i passed. So I got away with that one. You didn't. Fess up there's nothing lame about obeying the law.
Yes, Grandma, I get your point

Sort of like the people that bitch about red light cameras.

I just finished looking at Ticket Assassin, and wow, do they have that in Illinois?! I would try that website.

I'll never understand people that complain about breaking the law and getting caught.

Wagner's stories, however, are a different matter altogether.

I once parked downtown, where there was a "Unloading and Loading ONLY" sign, but it was blocked by another sign, so it wasn't completely visible from the street, nor from the car, so I got a ticket, so then I snapped a pic and they let me free.

wagnerx5,
"suspicious maneuvers in a parking lot": drug dealers leave parking lot as soon as they see cops.

"routine inspections": there might be something going on (criminal activities) in the area that you were that they feel the need to inspect every suspicious vehicle.

my point is: let them do their job of keeping us safe.

NOVAX5, that is a BS argument. If your 'drug dealer' comment had any weight, why let the other car go?

Criminal activity, I was driving a 1967 Mustang...pretty sure that would be an easy catch for criminal activity.

That isn't doing their job, I have friends who are police, troopers and Sheriff's Deputies...they actually do their job. Unlike these type of clowns.
