Corrected version:

The Bush Administration knows exactly what he is doing, and they approve. If you've noticed, over the past year several senators have criticized Musharraf for not going after Al-Queda and the White House has always publicly defended them.

If you were to read the Pakistani media, you would find a totally different angle on this -- that he is not cooperating with Washington. That version is to make the Pakistani public happy.

The reality is that Musharraf is hanging onto power by a thread, and Osama/Al-Queda is not a priority for either him or the Bush Administration. Whenever either the US or Pakistani media brings up the subject, they play their little PR game. But behind closed doors, neither side really cares. Osama served his purpose long ago. They don't need him anymore.
