Burma/Myanmar - common sense, exit here.
I understand why they were protesting but I don't consider it "bad" that the government is ending the protest. They told the monks/other protesters that they would be cracking down, now they are surprised some got killed.... Hmm..I'm not.

Wagner, I have to admit I'm a little shocked by your comments. What do you say "should" be happening there? (On both sides)

I'm not about to say, and can't say. My commentary was aimed in the direction of don't be shocked when a military government threatens military action, and then acts. Was there a person who didn't think this would come to blows? Did the government not send out several warnings to end the protest? World leaders knew this would happen, and now act shocked.....
And exactly what comment I made are you surprised about?

Hahah. I thought that might be what you were thinking. No of course I didn't think the protest was bad, just not shocked by the outcome. With "bad by ending the protest" I simply meant, they were quelling an incident.

For a second, I thought you'd lost it, and I was going to have to "ignore" you!

I thought, optimistically, that they might pull off the Big
Revolution. With the Buddhist monks seemingly united and the general population cranked up, I was hoping it might be one of those rare deals where the ruling military gov't would be embarrassed or forced to come to terms with the population and morph. The commentary/"pressure" on China, their main trading partner, is almost laughable and almost Jr High gossip/pressure-like. The Big C is gonna do whatever fits any of their numerous niches chasing anyone's/everyone's buck, imo. I was glad to see the military force party using some restraint or it could been rivers of blood in the streets.

I was hoping this might be a "sudden move" situation also, but it looks more like it's going to be a long haul one.
The international community is highly aware now, which is new, and might lead to enough international embarassment to cause a positive change. As with most things, "wait and see."
