Does anyone use cruise control anymore?

The family and I spent 4 days doing what ended up being a driving tour of Vermont last week. NYC to Stowe and then Manchester to Princeton Jct. were the two big runs, and not once did I use cruise control.

I realized during that trip that I haven't set a cruise control setting for at least 5 years, and I typically drive 18 to 20,000 miles per year - a lot of that on highways. I just never think to set it. Even during the long boring stretches of some of the interstates around here.

Does anyone else NEVER use this handy gizmo? Does anyone else feel they can utilize cruise control when they want? Is there something about driving fast cars - and being an enthusiast - lead one to want to have control at all times?

I've been wondering about these questions the last few days.

I use it regularly. Everytime I drive up north, I set it to 120km/h (75MPH) and just cruise in the middle lane.

I used to cruise quicker, but lately I am seeing more OPP cruisers on the road, so I'm not in the mood for a convo with the cops.

I've been wondering about these questions the last few days.

I use mine as much as I can, but it doesn't seem like anyone else in OK uses theirs. I will get stuck behind a snail race every morning on the way to work. Drive slow if you want, just don't clog up both lanes doing it.
(Most highways I take to work are 4 lane only )

I only use mine when I am drunk or tooo tired to maintain speed.

I do use mine at times. Lets say the speed limit is 55 and I am in a rush. I set the cruise at 64 (9 mph over the speed limit.) I figure if I make it 10 miles over, more likely to get a ticket. And, since ticket incriments go up in fines by 5-10mph, it keeps me in the lower bracket.

I rarely use mine. In fact, I think I used it only once or twice on the X5 (on trips to CT or NJ), and I don't think I've ever used it on the 330xi.

I use it on long trips. I find it useful to maintain a speed that I think the V1/S1 will keep me out of trouble with the state troopers.

Gas mileage is slightly better when using it for some reason.

the 500+ mile trip from MD to VT involved a LOT of cruise control.

i've never used it on my old E46 and i still haven't used it on my current X5 but i'm sure in the near future i'll try it out.

I use it SO seldomly, that when I borrowed my dad's Eldorado while I was back in the US last week, when I accidentally activated cruise, it took me about a half hour to realize what i had done..The whole time I was thinking the car had a mind of its own and it was going to take me off a cliff...

I had totally forgotten that cruise existed...And Im always tired when I drive anyways, and that is the absolute WORST time to use cruise...Ask the guy on Highway 14 in CA I rear-ended in '98! Oh the memories...

I use it all the time out here. Lots of speed cameras and terrible driving to avoid.

Still enjoying accelerating the 4.8 using the cruise - sounds great and so effortless. Tend to leave it at 140kmh or 160 on the desert road.

What speed does cruise work up to? Might have to go and find out.
