Van Halen Concert in Philly 10/3

I hadn't seen VH in concert since the Diver Down tour which was almost exactly 25 years ago. I got pretty decent seats about a month ago and went with some buddies last Wednesday night. I was pysched but didn't really expect too much since these guys are definitely showing their age and Wolfy who is only 16 years old had the huge responsibility of matching Michael Anthony's licks on the bass and more importantly his back-up vocals.

Well let's just say that the 2 hour show blew me away the same way that the Diver Down show did 25 years ago. I seen my share of concerts over the years (since 1980) and this was by far right up there with the best of them! If any of you are VH fans DO NOT MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THIS SHOW! They still sound great after all these years, and yes Wolfy held his own and his vocals sounded great...oh the life to be 16 years old, playing to sold out arenas, the son of Eddie VH and out on the road with VH, could life for a kid possibly get any better? BTW they played at least 3-4 songs off of all their Roth albums from VH1 to 1984.

I hear ya. I went to the Charlotte show - opening night of the tour - and wasn't sure if it would be a train wreck or what. I was very surprised at how tight they sounded, even with Wolfgang in the mix. There is no comparison to the energy of them live with DLR. Best flashback rock show I have seen in 10 years.

I must be getting old - just not into seeing a bunch of 70 year olds playing heavy metal...
