Thinking back I could not imagine having a kid in my 20's or even early 30's. We've always been fairly responsible but heck...we're talking the 80's and 90's. This way we spoiled ourselves before having a kid... Traveled and did some investing before making the big decision to bring a life into the world.

Now we are all grown up and confortable...Good time to have a child in my eyes.

Same story with my older sister. She and her husband had both kids late in life. I had both my kids before I was 30 (my wife and I have also been a couple since I was 15, and married for five years prior to our first child's birth). Looking back, I couldn't imagine having them later.

The health risks alone for the mother and child should be a serious disincentive to having kids past 35. Your point about being in a place in your life to have them is well taken, but I'll take health over a trip to Paris any day.

The old saying is, if you wait until you're ready to have kids, you never will.

I said, "A kid needs two parents. Having kids late ain't the way to go, but hey, what's one more screwed up (rich) kid in the world?"

So are all the single parents/children of single parents going to flip out now?

How about rich parents/their children (a category you may very well fall into)?

My comment wasn't a personal attack on anyone, just a personal response to the question. Seems pretty simple.

Sorry but i respectfully dissagree: "A baby always needs a father" The key here is "FATHER" not sperm donor.

I understand your situation and certinally recognize how under certain circumstances life may be different. But i believe that if a biological father actually lived up to the meaning of the word "FATHER" Then every child would benefit from that relationship.

As for Alexis Stewart, you may be right in what you say. But just going by her comments it appears that her motives have been selfish from jump street, and her mother is no different.

As for Alexis Stewart, maybe she feels ready to have a baby now because she's at a point in her life where she can raise a child with the attention it would need. Don't know why she's not trying with a man...maybe it would take too much time and effort to work on a relationship and her biological clock is ticking away, or maybe she's a lesbian, who knows. in any case, she has the financial means to raise a child, it's a matter of whether she's emotionally ready to devote her time.

LOL...Just pulling your leg.

I too think there is an upper age limit to having children. We are just about at that limit. My wife wants another but I want to retire sometime soon and don't want to be 95 when he or she graduates.

if you're talking about a father figure, then i had a few of those, from my grandfather, to my uncle, to my mom. there was always someone there to make sure i was ok, discipline me when i was bad, keep me in line, or congratulate me when i did something good...as for Alexis Stewart, if she, her mom, or anyone else can provide that authority figure in her child's life, then i don't see anything wrong with having a child through the means she is trying. reading that article, i don't know if it's for selfish reasons that she's trying to conceive in that manner or because her biological clock is ticking. if you think about it, she's 42...if she finds someone to date, chances are that they will be in their 40s or 50s. not saying that she won't find someone younger, but the likelihood is the man will be older. at that age, how many guys really want to have baby? probably not many, so they would most likely be a sperm donor, which is what she's doing, just not the traditional route. if she finds a man who wants to be the father of her child, i would think it would probably be at least another year or two of dating/courting before he would consider such a commitment.
