Then did you not understand the part where I thanked Quick for explaining to me why he was suspended???

Not that Wagner needs help defending himself, but I though he was quite clear that he thought the mans comments were indeed racist. His question was one about his being terminated.

Case in point...If a man and woman are swingers and post videos of themselves on the Internet in swinger chat rooms does that give their employer a right to fire them if that information were to be exposed? Clearly what they are doing is offensive to some; however, what they do in their private lives should not matter.

Though I believe his actions were pretty clear and I agreed with Quicksilver you can see that there might be some discussion as to the merit seeing everyone is offended by something.

Good case - but it could very well matter, depending on your employer. Many employers, either private families who own all the stock in the company (e.g. J&J) or shareholders, have the right to create policies and guidelines dictating acceptable behavior. If they feel an employee is seen as a representative of the company both on and off company property, then they have the right to request you honor the reputation of the company whenever you're in public. Don't like it - don't work there... I could very well see Disney firing the guy who plays Prince Charming every day in the Magic Kingdom parade just because he was filmed in consentual relations and it's now on the Internet. It reflects poorly on the company.

This is a funny thread.

1) Obviously the dumbass had diarrhea of the mouth and also proved again that he has the stupid gene. He also disproved his point on the intelligence and intellect portions as well. What he said was just plain stupidity given that he had no clue on consequences/repercussions.

2) Tijan, I suggest you read the thread carefully, then consider what Wagner is saying before responding since:

a) you can't spell or puntuate
b) you answer with your heart rather than considering all the comments and answer with your mind
c) you actually argued against yourself in multiple comments that you posted and showed us that you did NOT understand his comments or what transpired.

3) Barry articulated quite well on what he actually understood and formed a good rebuttal. Now if only he can find his way around the bay area he will further make the aforementioned former nobel prize winner eat his words...

I absolutely agree with you. Once you make your "private" life public or controversial racist opinions as this guy did, you are fair game for termination. That said, there is a fine line and it would depend on the statement and the position held within the company. There are way too many things that could be construed as offensive to someone somewhere. For instance, an off color joke at a party or some innocent post on a chat forum.

1) I might not be able to puntuate but I can certainly punctuate

2)I answer with my heart cuz I'm sick and tired of all the stereotypes going around, not only I'm a proud Black man but I'm also muslim. It seems like evey week, something happens. I mean, I met Ryan and I have nothing personal against him, I just don't necessarly agree with his POV. But failing to why the guy was suspended was not an argument I'd suspect he'd make.

3) Pls show me where I argued against myself

Stereotype??? What are you talking about?? My Muslim post, did I say all muslims...no...I said more crying Muslims...if you're going to take a thread so seriously, don't read it. I'm not going to back down from asking questions because someone might get upset...

And where did I say anything...ANYTHING..stereotypical about blacks?? Nice try but I'm about as "fair" as it gets. Had tables been reversed I would have said the exact same thing in regards to the guy getting suspended. Had it been K Annan, I would have said the same thing. Keeping in mind all I did was ask a question, got to love the open mind. Quick had no problem actually answering my question instead of assuming I was racist. And please don't say 'that isn't what I did' because if it wasn't you would have simply answered the questions, and not attempted to 'defend' something. Please stop assuming comments are being made with racist intentions....seems it is awful stereotypical to assume everything a person says roots back to a racist mind, which seems to be the take here.

Funny, in all the time I've been on this board I've been questioned three times in the last 6 months: one was someone questioning me when I was defending gays, another questioned my position on how beating a person physically and emotional stress were the same thing, and thirdly this.....you could throw the Muslim post in, but the retorts to that were just dumb.
