I got my MPB for less than $679.00, new. But that was b/c of the faulty(ish) iBook.

IMO, I wouldn't buy the 3000 series. It is the low end offered by Lenovo. I own the Thinkpad Tablet X61 and it is a soild built machine. Best keyboard made on any laptop.
Good luck finding a good deal though, so much out there.
