I traded in the laptop and bought a :gulp: ....

macbook pro. and I like it....
I've only had it for a few days but I thinks its pretty cool. So far I like Leopard better than Windows. I also installed vmware fusion and XP, and even the windows apps seem to run better in there.

If you buy a copy of office 2004 for mac (any version or standard upgrade) before 1/14/08, Microsoft is offering a free upgrade to office 2008 super media edition (just pay the $7 for shipping).

Anybody got suggestions for accessories, software, or anything? Thanks.

whooo hooo! I'm typing this on a 2.2GHz as I speak. No need for more ram, 2GB is enough.

I got it with the 2GB and it ran fine. I was able to pick up 4GB for $125 so I am now maxed out on RAM.

Quicksilver will become famous soon enoughQuicksilver will become famous soon enough
For most users, a cloning utility like. SuperDuper! (and other utilities like Carbon Copy Cloner or Synchronize! Pro X) allow you to create a bootable, full backup of your current Mac OS X installation. ( You do have a back up drive right)?

You may want to hold off on running any of the popular disk directory repair/optimization utilities under Mac OS X 10.5 until further word is released by their developers. These include DiskWarrior and TechTool Pro. But as soon as you get the word include these tools. They are a must.

Finally read the Mac rags so as to keep up with what's going on. You will get explanations to issues that may crop up.

By the way, where did you get that price from? The HD upgrade is a $275 option on top of the $1,999 base price?

Congratulations on your new baby . Which one did you get? In case you didn't know, MBP was recently recognized as running windows Vista quicker than any other laptop ever tested .

My suggestions:
- Get ".mac" so you can very easily create beautiful online web galleries, web pages etc...
- Pay the $99 for their One to One in store training. Since you are new to a Mac, it will dramatically reduce your learning curve!
- If you didn't already get it, get the new Airport Extreme wireless router. It will fully utilize your MBP's 802.11n capability.
- Get a nice Brenthaven case
- Enjoy
