Pseto:

Thanks for the help but i read the faq and found that if your not doing HD
the following applies.

"The TiVo HD DVR supports digital cable, over-the-air digital antenna (ATSC), analog cable and analog antenna. You will need one (1) Multi-stream CableCARD or two (2) Single-stream CableCARDs to receive HD Digital channels. Without CableCARDs, you will still be able to receive standard definition analog channels, as well as analog and digital antenna channels."

There is additional criteria that will require a set top box but since we are so Basic for now it appears no Box is needed.

Thanks

You can receive local hi-def channels off-the-air too.
All depends on what you want to do in future.

Funny that this thread got bumped today. Directv installed yesterday. Man, it is sweet watching everything in HD. Seems like the local channels etc are actually clearer with this. The layout of the menu's etc is pretty nice too. Just have to get used to the channel numbers which seem to be all over the place unlike cable.

One thing that's odd coming from Comcast: it seems that you can't manually switch between the tuners using the remote. Not a huge deal, but it's a nice feature that's missing.

WEll I just bought a Tivo HD. Not the expensive one.
I thought about Direct TV and right now didn't want the
hassel of the dish installation. But i might change my mind.
$249.00 Costco. Now i have to get that Gizmo that lets me
control the thing from my computer.... Are we having fun yet?
