I have the DirecTV HD-DVR which I got from DirecTV. You can also get that from Costco or Best Buy and then call DirecTV. Costco is offering some deals for DirecTV these days.
Thanks dude! I'll check out Costco also. There seem to be 10^1k possibe permutations with these sat guys.

Ryan and Sunil: Did you just buy your own DVR and pay Directv for the DVR service? Are there certain DVR's that are better than others? There seem to be soo many out there.

This is kinda new to me, because with Comcast you just pay them $10/mo and they give you the DVR to use.

Thanks for your input guys.
I pay about 4-5$/mo for TIVO. The new DVR's with Direct TV, I don't think you have to.

Quicksilver will become famous soon enoughQuicksilver will become famous soon enough
I ressurected this thread to ask a question.
I have cable but i haven't used a cable box in years. (Using the tuner in the tv)

Yes I will be going HD but not until i get a flat screen. Which will be soon
I am still going to get a series 2 Tivo in preparation for that move though.
Do I need a cable box for Tivo if I'm not doing the HD thing right now?
