Setup went fine with a few small hitches (buy another cable) get a Tivo wireless adaptor from Amazon cause best buy was almost twice as much. Then the computer stuff mainly restart this, install Toast Tivo transfer, then restart TIVO again. I decided to go the Tivo route because i just didn't want the hassle of changing providers, installing 2 dishes on the roof and the finding out i didn't like it. Besides we don't watch that much TV anyhow so we still have basic cable until we make the move for a flat screen then it's digital all the way baby. But has anyone noticed that with every step a person makes to embrace technology he faces a learning curve that gets more difficult along the way? I'm told setting up a flat screen can be a nightmare so I'm really looking forward to that challenge. I finally got Mac Leopard Time Machine working and i believe it may have been a dumb mistake on my part that prevented it's use. I'm just glad i didn't have to call the geek squad. Am i really as dumb as a rock? Or are the technology gremlins out to get us all? ........

Didn't know there was such a model. There's a Series 3 (that I have and they're retiring) and I think the current models are Series 2 DT; HD; and Series 3 HD.

Great, enjoy it.
And setting up a flat screen is probably one of the easiest things you can do with new tech. Unless you are hanging it from some kind of crazy motorized trapeze that drops it down out of your ceiling, it is really a 5 minute job from the box to HD glory. I read that this year's superbowl is responsible for 2.4 million HD sets being sold. Not sure how they collect that kind of data though. Enjoy. |

Costco has the Vizio 60" Plasma HDTV for $2,000! I know that Vizio is not a brand with a great name but what a price...

Yup, amazing how much they have come down in price over the last year. Vizio gets decent ratings on AVSforum - that site is great but it gives me a headache - too many options and opinions. |

Brian, I think Vizio is fine, for what they are. I have a 42" LCD Vizio in my living room, and it's really nice, especially for the price I paid for it at Costco. In the family-media room, where all the "serious" TV happens, I have a Sharp Aquos 50" LCD set. Waaaay better imaging, and nicer all around. but it was at a much higher price. But for the money, Vizio does it's job very well. Just be sure to feed it a true HD signal via HDMI cable. Anything less won't be as nice a picture. And RGB or analog signals on HDTV sets don't display very well. Dave
