End of the Viper?

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...=2008802180319

The Viper sports car, while lovely to look at, doesn't make sense in the Dodge lineup. Dodge needs performance models, but an $84,460 two-seater is too far removed from the rest of the brand's lineup. The $37,995 425-horsepower Challenger SRT8 is Dodge's natural flagship.

But lower the cost of the Challenger even more The Mustang GT is already creeping up the mid-30's, bring the SRT8 in around 34,999 and you would clean up.

PS: Chrysler will be gone in the next 5 years. The biggest mistake, if you wanted to keep the brand around, was selling it off to a real business where only profit margins matter. That company will be cut down and then sold off in pieces.

Just wondering but who is going to buy those pieces... Ford? GM? Nobody will buy the parts. Look at Jaguar.......Ford has been trying to deal them for years and they will get cents on the dollar. If economic times were different, then competitors may have more money and the economics would be different. Under todays economy......i'm not so sure but interesting to see if that does happen

No way..the vette is definitely here to stay...The vette is an American classic and improves dramatically each time...Plus its more affordable then the viper.

And more practical, easier on gas, etc...

The Viper is all about speed, nothing else. The Vette is a pretty realistic everyday sports car.

The Vette is an icon from nearly 6 decades not to mention Cadillac has now started using portions of the vette in their V series.
