This is a mistake by Obama and is making the rounds

This is a few months old as Richardson is in the photo but it is now gaining momentum. This taken during the National Anthem Obama seems quite content not placing his hand over his heart. Considering this is a media event I'd say that is a mistake which could come back to haunt him in a General Election. Remember...He is going up against a war hero.

Add to this the ammunition and admission that he refuses to wear an American flag lapel pin because of the war in Iraq.

Now to be fair...Bush seems a little confused about the tradition but at least he was trying.

Doesn't effect my opinion. Bush looks like he has a stomach ache....

Side note: anyone who has been to a sporting event has seen the mass utter disrespect for the national anthem. Until I see a video of this happening, too much spin can be put on a photo IMO.

Snoops says it is true.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp

Also...This is not a sporting event. He is running for the President of the United States. There is a certain level of patriotism I think most of America expect from a President.

Do I think he is a smart man? Yes
Do I think he means well? Yes
Do I think he is a competent Senator? Yes (though I don't agree with his politics).
Do I think he is Green being a first term Senator who immediately started to run for President the moment he was sworn in a Senator? Yes.

This WILL be an issue during the General Election.

I had a similar discussion on all this yesterday. The discussion was about how you needed to understand the system, and serve your time. Well IMO the people that have served their time, namely a Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld...were HORRIBLE. While I agree it wasn't a good thing during a photo op to be caught doing that, that should hold very little to the persons credentials IMO. Now, yes...McCain will bring this up time and again during the general election.

IMO, Bush's cabinet was made of more political dinosaurs and people who should have been 'seasoned' yet look what happened: 2 wars that are unfinished after the better part of a decade, recession, huge debt (400M), and sadly to quote Hillary...borrowing from China to buy oil from the ME.

Reminds me of one of my Fave lines:

"America is awash in selective piety, situational moralists and cherry-picking absolutionists."

Besides "politics" which I can barely stomach, must we have another
9 months of seeking out who's picking their nose, who is more righteous,
who squints the hardest when they 'pray', who isn't the most 'moral', etc.
Must be a slow Sat. to be digging this crap up, imo.

I actually agree with you Wagner when it comes to career politicians. I can think of more bad career politicians than good ones.

One thing that worries me a bit about a Green politician is the introduction of a green liberal politician. Now I admit I am a conservative; however, I've voted Democrat more than I've voted Republican in my lifetime so you can consider me a recovering liberal.

I'd much rather see a less government conservative green president than a government should be more involved in peoples lives liberal green president. The later is dangerous and can do a lot more damage than has already been done in my opinion.

Enter Obama.
