Friends of mine in Northern Illinois said it is currently $4.10 per gallon of diesel. Also heard it's $4.15 in Northwestern Virginia.

I've seen diesel at $3.69, which was 20-cents over the cost/gallon of premium petrol.

It's a bunch of BS! Can someone please explain why diesel is higher than premium. It used to be that diesel was cheaper than regular. Doesn't it take less to process diesel?

L, no petro scientist here, but when I was posting to the "stop the
carbon/CO2 myth" thread, I found this from a cursory peruse of the
net:

"I see from noodling around several sites that a basic BBL of oil usually yields ~7 gallons of diesel;
whereas, they often yield 20+ gallons of gasoline...that may have something to do with the usually
higher price per gallon for diesel vs. gasoline..."

No idea if that ~7 gal of diesel yield "costs" more or less than the "cost"
of gas, derived vis a vis the cracking/refining process.

I'm sure some of the more knowledgeable can add to it.

Your truck biz O/Ops must be up against the wall with this diesel pricing...

I think diesel is less than gasoline in many Euro countries as they have a slightly
diff blend, by regs, and the usual exorbitant fuel taxes are reduced/tilted by the
gov'ts for diesel there.
My 25Cents if up...

Peaks Island is 6 bucks. $4.29 on the Maine Turnpike at Mobil.
I think its initial price gauging of this ULSD nonsense. The truckers are pissed though.

people just use golf carts there.
