Need help deciding on new car-335i vs CLS

Okay, I think this would be a good place to hear peoples opinions and experiences. I realize this is a highly biased BMW crowd, but I am looking for another car with a backseat. I am pretty impressed with the CLS looks and I think it has quite a presence. Performance is pretty nice too. On the other hand, the 335i is a blast to drive. Probably less exclusive, but may offer some handling that the CLS lacks.

While I realize these cars are in different price ranges, I would buy the 335i new and the CLS with about 30-40,000 miles to make it even in price. Any thoughts, opinions or suggestions are appreciated.

definitely a new car is better

335i is nice, and comes with 4 years of free maintenance.

CLS is nice, but mb is old people's car

40k is practically half the car's life

The 335 drives great, why get a used car for the same money that does not drive as nice?

I'm not sure what you'd want to buy a used MB. I mean, I think the stock market may be slightly more reliable than that.

What's the matter with a 5-series? It seems to slot nicely in between the 3 and the CLS. If you want to be really cool, get a 528i sport.

I'm not sure why you are comparing a 335i to a CLS. If you want to compare apples to apples, you should look at the Mercedes C-Class. I'd also take a look at the Audi S4 and Lexus IS350.

MB is problem oriented when it comes to service, in too many ways...

I have a CLS63 and I love it since you're buying a used one, just make sure you get a CLS550 or 500. I wouldn't compare it to a 335 though. My wife likes the new C class and I must admit it looks nice too. Oh another thing, the back seat of the CLS is like third-row seating on the e70

Thanks for the pics. That is one beautiful ride. Your rims are perfect, are they HREs??

I was thinking of getting the CLS 550. I realize that the 335 is not a fair comparison to the CLS. But since these are really the only two cars that I like, I am comparing them. You said in your post that you would not compare a 335 to a CLS. Did you mean becuase of performance, price, comfort??

Thanks!
