Pest Control Services

We recently moved to a new subdivision and never used a pest control service at our last house. I used the off the shelf stuff that worked fine but I'm sick of messing with it.

We had a rep from Bullwark stop by and offer an initial in-wall/exterior service for $69 and a EOM service for $65 on a one year contract. Does this sound reasonable? We have a 2,600 sq ft 1 story house.

He's also offering some kind of copper mesh stuff that he sticks in the weep holes of the brick to keep bugs out but still allowing the moisture out. Any opinions on this stuff? I've never heard of it but that doesn't mean much.

1) Get two quotes. Not because the price doesn't seem right, but it's VERY helpful to understand how two different people will approach the issue.
My first quote was from a salesman who didn't know jack about jack. He just measured and quoted.
My second quote was from a guy who walked around looking for termite wings with a flash light, going into crawl spaces, drawing diagrams of the concrete foundation and where he thought my penetration issues were. I thought I was on an episode of CSI, Operation Termite.
Guy number 2 also said that the law requires he suggest I bomb the house as a primary treatment. But he also thought that it wasn't necessary and we should try the secondary, lesser expensive method first, which he was confident should do the job.

2) Don't use TERMINIX. Want to know why, how about 57 pages of customer complaints:

3) Look up anybody and everybody you are considering using with the BBB.org website. Why waste your time with a company who has bad ratings. And people on the internet really do go and post about their experiences with pest control companies.. Just look for a good recommendation.

That is what I have learned in my recent adventure with termiites...
