Sounds like she bought inferior health plan, appears to be NASE *throws up* BAD BAD BAD, Well the world of HMO's is pretty much gone, It's time customers realized how much it really costs for health care, an office visit is NOT 10.00, That is why I love HSA's, their amazing plans, offer stunning protection (most do) and are great tax vehicles. It must be noted that not all health insurance carriers are the same, huge differences seperate the BMW's from the YUGO'S

But It's hard to swallow sometimes, would you rather pay 100.00 etc etc or more out of your pocket? There is a yin and yang balance.

And No, Universal Healthcare is NOT the answer. :P

Blech. I don't have the link, but recently there was an article (I think on Nat'l TV) about a man with a cancer who his the "Lifetime Limit" of $1.5million or whatever and couldn't afford anything further and was dying. Thats PB&J *******!!!! That bothers me. I know nothing about my own. All I know is that its horrible. If you aren't a corporate employee, you can't afford jack. I think my insurance costs more than an E70, and is considered "Catastrophic" Then I look at my neighbors, the HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, complete with their stay at home mom's with new Tahoes every year and a nanny, because spinning classes is like a full time job. HA!

Stop working for sh--ty companies that screw you on HC. My company has yet to raise a HC cost on anyone, and offers the most extensive plan Carefirst offers. When I was flying solo on my own coverage it was balls to the walls expensive, morale of the story...get a job with HC

No kidding...
V&I are retired bums and buy private health insurance: in our case,
BlueCross-BlueShield of NC was the best deal we could find at a
reasonable cost. The bad news is that it is really a Major Med Policy
with a $5,000 deductible and a $2.5 mill lifetime cap per person.

Our monthly prem was $245/month 6 yrs ago ... it's $700 a month
now, and goes up about every three months. For those of you
without a calculator that's ~$8,500 a year, off the top, for
"health ins". That does not cover us for doctors' visits, Gee I don't
feel good visits, Oh I nearly cut my finger off visits, etc.

It's a fookin nightmare in this country and is not gonna be/get fixed
by anyone or any group. A complete fookin fiasco, imo.

Typically the BC/BS companies lack behind newer companies, and never settle for ANYTHING less than 5 mil lifetime max. Remember BCBS companies are independent (many are part of Well Point's family of companies) licensees of the BCBS association. Not all created equal.

Yet Japan spends about half as much on health care per capita as the United States.
