His for sale ad said the following with one error...It was from a 2001 X5 which I verified with him. The $260 was a negotiated flat amount to cover shipping and insurance .

Update. The seller has offered to refund half the money once he recieves the amp. He's not thrilled (who would be) but he is honest.

Hats off to him

You are lucky, he is a stand-up guy! Nice to see that.

Ouch. I was in this exact situation last summer with a set of bilstein shocks for the prelude. In that situation, UPS at least forked over the max $100 w/o purchased insurance.

Follow-up. The seller was real cool and patient (member here) so I took my X5 into BMW to see if the amplifier needed re-coding. They said it should not if it was the same year and model number which it was but decided to check anyway. Sure enough after 5 minutes it was re-coded and working. I'm back to having a radio and buyer and seller are once again happy.

That is good news, MrLabGuy. I am happy that not only do you have your system up and running, but that the seller was proven to have been honest in his dealings with you. Everyone wins!

I think it was fair to split the cost, good to see the seller was honest. I think as a community we should have some accountability and have some honesty with each other when dealing with financial transactions. Good to see you got it working though, I'm sure that was your ultimate goal.
