I agree.. i think the best cars for an 18 yr old is the S5 or 335xi (what?? an 18 yr old??).

2006 4.8...

Stay away from Range Rovers - everyone i know with one has tons of issues. Ford.

X6 - not a bad idea at all..

And wait.. this is just a lease, and after u finish college, instead of buying it at end of lease, you're getting another new car? Are they adopting?

Sign me up for adoption! I'll even contribute my salary to pay for rent in the house!

I'm a Rover lover first, but like everyone else said, I'd stay away from them for now. Unless you want to get an older RR that had the engine built by BMW. I've got a Discovery 2- I off-road it a lot, but it's always got something wrong- and always a nice puddle under it at one point or another.

I like the A5/S5 or the 335XI. Get a drop top!

I was in a similar situation when I was a bit younger, my parents helped me out a lot with my purchase and feel very blessed.

Godspeed in your search!

1+ for s5... it looks better then the 335xi, the 4.2 v8 sounds a hell of alot better then it, and the quattro all wheel drive system works better then bmw's

335xi/S5

I would be hesitant on ground clearance though...

I test drove the new IS-F and it sort of felt like the interior was made for a little kid, all of the buttons and gauges were tiny and it seemed claustrophobically small inside. The S5's are so hard to get here in Colorado I talked to the dealer and they said they have only had one hit the showroom and it was there for two days before someone got it, all of the others have been orders and I guess a list is beginning to form. The bmw engine land rovers have a much superior drivetrain but the electronics are much more glitchy as is the suspension which is always a big problem. The X6 is hideous in my opinion, but it could grow on me like the cayenne eventually did. lol, no they aren't currently looking I think after four kids they have had enough. I am very grateful they are doing this for me, I am grateful for everything they have done as a matter of fact. Ground clearance isn't too bad of a problem, the snow plows in Breck are on top of their shit so the roads never have too thick of a layer on them. My mom has a C4 and my dad had a porsche TT and it was never a problem. The S5 is far more attractive than the 335 in my opinion but the lack of some form of power boost is a deterrent, up at eisenhower tunnel there is a large lack in power in naturally aspirated cars. I am going to say I like the idea of the land rover range rover sport supercharged still though.

I have decided on the 335xi coupe and getting a Vishnu PROcede Stage 1 Chip. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. We are trying to track down a metallic black with red leather and all the options.

Good choice. I was going to say 335xi or S5. I would get the car first and see if you need the chip. 0-60 in 4.2 secs is pretty fast. I think you might have traction issues. Good luck.

With the parents paying why not get all the options and the chip, no sense of just driving a slow and basic BMW 335.

Why do you need the chip? Ajogu is probably right in that you'll have traction issues with a vehicle that quick in heavy ice/snow, AWD regardless. Isn't 0-60 in 4.9 fast enough?
