The 7.9 earthquake in China

Now that is a true tragedy.

Quote:
Unless more survivors are found, the quake will have wiped out the school's entire graduating class and about half its student population.

Seeing the images on TV and the web are very sad. China quickly accepted international aid and allowed the media to cover the recovery effort. They mobilized the military to reach the isolated hard hit areas of the quake and provide relief to those who were made homeless.

I wish I could say the same for the junta that has refused almost all foreign aid in Burma. There is a humanitarian crisis in Burma and hope the UN step in.

I have a feeling that China quickly accepted foreign aid because Myanmar refused it. They wanted to be seen as more human rights friendly, even though they easily have the resources and man power to cover their own people. (The opposite of Myanmar).

We all know that the big Hollywood types are living their lives with their heads planted firmly up their own behinds but Sharon Stone is a special one. Her recent comments about the earthquake not only show how totally self-absorbed she is but how ignorant and irrelevant she is. Then to claim she "misspoke" and that she is the victim of "news sensationalism" is totally laughable.

"They're not being nice to the Dalai Lama, who is a friend of mine," Stone said on camera at the time, discussing the Chinese. "And then all of this earthquake and all this happened and I thought, is that karma? When you're not nice, that bad things happen to you?"

She needs a 7.9 scale smack upside her bloated head.

Yeah read that a couple days ago, I'm still trying to understand why actors feel they have some say in global events. Well, I guess they just have a bigger soap box then X5World

Nope...One word.

OLYMPICS.

Right now China is in Media mode and cant afford the bad press. This is their big chance in the spotlight and it means BIG BUCKS if the Olympics turn out positive in the eyes of the world.

That is why China is doing its best to sweep everything ugly in Beijing and other large cities off the streets.
