I have an idea for CHANGE

Here ya go:

100% legalize and tax Marijuana for anyone over the age of 21.
Use the tax revenue in it's entirety to fund a universal health care system.

The cost of Marijuana could be stablized or even brought down because the legality of it, which would allow for more growers, less criminality and making the substance controlled and monitored. While also having the citizens of this country benefiting from the taxes that would go towards health care.

In addition, HEMP could be used as a bio-fuel lessening the drain on wheat and corn thus lowering the price of fuel and in addition, introducing a new, sustainable, supplement to fossil fuels.

As for all the pot heads and the health crisis they may cause, I'm sure the epidemic will pass quickly. If it doesn't, I'm sure HOSTESS will be more than happy to manufacture more Twinkies and Ho'Ho's..

And I won't even get into the medical marijuana debate here !

what a great idea, to be on the road with a bunch of pot heads!
Besides, they would have to ban it's use indoors and outdoors (aside from private residences).
Plus, it would give the US a lovely odor

Oh yeah, I forgot,

The money that's spent on law enforcement, prosecution, incarcerating marijuana offenders can be used to solve millions of other problems.

As for the pot head, on the road, driving argument, that's just a silly argument. Driving Under the Influence is Driving Under the Influence. Doesn't matter if it's alcohol, weed, meth, prescrition drugs like oxycodone, perckaset, xanax, etc.

Besides, given the choice, of being in a car accident, where the person that hits me is:
a) drunk
b) on Meth
c) on Coke
d) on prescription pills
e) smoked a joint

I'll take "E" as the lesser of all evils, everyday of the week and twice and sunday. yes, it will be annoying to have to replace the bumper, but it's a much better alternative than being rammed by some drunk lady in a Ford F-350 Dually.

I'm not suggesting in reality that one is really better than the other, I am kidding. but really, there are laws in place, DUI does not mean, driving DRUNK, it means, driving under the INFLUENCE of any substance.

Whats the difference between a drunk driver and a stoned driver?
The drunk driver runs the stop sign, the blazed one waits for it to turn green.

Why would they have to ban it's use anymore than the way they restrict the current use of Alcohol and Tobacco?

If you can't walk the street with an open container, you shouldn't be able to smoke a joint. But if there is an outdoor bar, and the bar owner allows it, and is in a smoking section, how is it any different than how alcohol is controlled and regulated?
