I know people from those areas.

Dinvaut's from Reserve, Fiffie's from Edgard, Crochet's from New Iberia.

Are those people? lol sorry don't know them.

Wagner: here are some pics I took a few months after Katrina. Notice how these houses are fairly upscale and you would probably not have guessed this was NOLA. These people made it out. These people did not "re-elect the same leaders" either. You are lumping all NOLA residents in one sum. This could be you too.

almost forgot----

I wouldn't live under sea level next to the gulf of Mexico. And I never said "all" or "lumped" anything, stated the facts of the matter

When my family came to NO in the 1800's broke, I don't think they wanted to live at sea level next to the gulf either. But I'm sure glad they stayed, it happened to work out very well for them.....

Wagner,

I live in Los Angeles, the entire area is one giant FAULT line. When I lived in NY, it was a hurricane zone. Miami we had water spouts, hurricanes and were 45 miles away from one of our worst enemies, CUBA.
Columbus Ohio, we had tornado's..

Now, I don't entirely disagree that building a city below sea level probably isn't the brightest thing. But lets be honest, there is no place anywhere in the world that is disaster proof.

p.s. - My friends and I all have earthquake plans... Hope we never have to use them.

Understand what I'm saying, or discussing, senseless crying after a warning is the problem I have. On a fault line, there still is an air of uncertainty on when something will happen. When people tell you in 3 months or 2 weeks a Hurricane will hit you...get out.

Wag I usually agree with you on most stuff, but this seems really a bit hateful, I think your stepping a bit out of line, What happened to New Orleans was terrible, and we did a terrible job of handling it, I mean honestly, a large population in that city is extremely poor, Something neither of us have any experience in, and had literally no means to get out. Now I agree that blame is all over the place, but I honestly think your being a bit to black/white on an issue that is anything but. Just my 2 cents, not putting you down or anything. I did a lot of driving around the state (including the exact spot where Katrina made landfall, and it really changed how I felt on the issue. I'd recommend another trip but a different mentality in place.
