Agreed, but that's just good business (financial) sense... not political sense. If McCain had more in contribution that the general fund, he would do the same and dare anyone to question it. If he didn't he'd be crazy.

Further, I wonder how the millions of donors would feel if he didn't use the private funds and lost the election.

Makes you wonder though, what would people think if you took the donations and began setting up relief programs for the recent floods or something along those lines, instead of spending them on your own campaign? That would be a hard topic to argue against in any general election and you could take the high road and still have 85M to work with.

Because they are campaign contributions and are regulated as such. He can't just give em away. Nice gesture, though.

That is too bad. General public willing to give up 250M to help someone get elected, but I wonder how much they gave up for other causes.

(I've never donated to any campaign...so I'm not sure why people do that)

Don't kid yourself! The "general public" is not funding his campaign. Think Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc... It's just channeled through random names to make it look like it's a grassroots donation pool.

With as tough as the economy is right now, just HOW is his constituency going to create $250Million of wealth for this guy? Trust me... It's not them.

Question: Do you really think our oil companies will slash prices by drilling and barreling our domestic oil?? Why would they when Exxon is on pace to hit a $44 billion in profits this year.

It isn't about 'lowering the price' it is about stabilizing it so you don't have prices double on a bbl price in less then 2 years. Every time a rebel farts in Nigeria, the price of oil goes up.

This CON-spiracy theory requires no response. However, to the extent a response is required, this CON-spiracy theory is denied for the lack of sufficient information to justify a belief therein.

Well, all teams have the dirt. They're just waiting for the right time to release it.
