Amazing. Since I left this thread it has gone from going 140 swerving in and out of traffic, to solo on highway, now on to GO TO THE TRACK. Yet again, reason prevails.

You want to have some serious balls, have some serious fun, learn a thing or two about things like Terminal Velocity, Threshold Braking, Trailing Throttle Oversteer, High and Low percentage passing, etc. Then get off the highway and go to racing school.

If you can afford a legal team to defend yourself for being a dumbass, you can afford a racing school.
And guess what, when you are done with the school, you can actually do some real racing, with race cars, and other racer drivers..

You want some adrenaline, try to catch me.

unless like me when I was going fast I was on the autobahn on a unrestricted section and I was just simply keeping up with the flow of traffic legally.

Best in the X is only 120 or so (indicated)...but that is a rare occurrence.

I had a 2004 zx-10R which I saw 106 indicated in 1st gear but that thing used to vibrate so much at speed that I never looked down over 160 (indicated).

I still have my zx-12R, which I rode out in Wyoming (where you could see the future and the past its such a long vista), and that bike saw an indicated 190+. I hit the rev limiter on the top of 6th and held it just shy for a few miles or so. It was AMAZINGLY CALM at that speed. Like an air pressure bubble forms around you and everything just smoothes out. All you hear is the wind. Did it, loved it and still have the T-shirt.

Something happened in the past three or four years and I just don't get the rush anymore. I find myself sitting on the cruise control at 75 or so.

I know what you mean and remember the high.

Be safe.
thx for posting. earlier this morning i was feeling like a freak or something. i knew there were other people that enjoy speed. my only 2 cars have been a 911 and the x5. i didnt buy either so that i would look "cool" i bought both them because i was impressed by the performance of each.

Again Scottie,

Anyone can drive fast in a straight line. There is no skill at driving at 140mph in a modern, fast car. (actually, I take it back, the most important skill is understanding how to "look ahead", but I promise you, that saying is worthless without track experience."

- What people do on the autobahn is fine. Driving fast is fine also, based on road conditions, etc.

But trying to set land speed records by zipping on the LIE and trying to make "best time" is just moronic and is an accident waiting to happen.

Considering I grew up at Exit 32 on the LIE, I can comfortably say, I know the road.

I'm sure lots of people drive fast, but maintaining the speed solely for the sake of maintaining it is dangerous. And it's not impressive.

You want to impress me, try to take away my racing line, Apex...
