Republicans are throwing the election by putting John McCain at the head of the ticket.

Thinking:

The economy is a mess...
Record deficits...
Housing collapse...
Bank failures...
Fuel Crisis...
Both houses controlled by Democrats...

Let the Democrats take the helm for the next 4 years while the Republicans regroup and shoot for full control in 2012 when things look really bad.

Makes sense when you consider John McCain's campaign in the primary placed him in dead last only to be revived at the last minute.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but this one seems to follow some logic though I doubt they are smart to pull something like this off if they wanted.
