Some talking head made the following statement
Thinking: The economy is a mess... Record deficits... Housing collapse... Bank failures... Fuel Crisis... Both houses controlled by Democrats... Let the Democrats take the helm for the next 4 years while the Republicans regroup and shoot for full control in 2012 when things look really bad. Makes sense when you consider John McCain's campaign in the primary placed him in dead last only to be revived at the last minute. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but this one seems to follow some logic though I doubt they are smart to pull something like this off if they wanted. |

It sure seemed that the other candidates wanted to win the nomination very badly. Did someone go to them and say "Uh, hey, we are going to throw this election to Candidate X because we are going to lose anyway, so please just say something stupid so you lose the primary and drop out".
Why would the GOP want to give a chance for the Democrats to win, to be successful, lively and popular? McCain is the GOP's best chance for a victory. They will try to win. Personally, I think a lot of people will not vote for a black man and the election will be close. |

I think the opposite is true- very, very few blacks will vote for McCain- and very few vote GOP anyway. I don't believe the vast majority of Americans care what color the President is (I sure don't) and would support any number of black (or Hispanic or whatever) candidates.
