Michael Phelps' Daily Diet:

BREAKFAST
  • Three fried egg sandwiches with cheese lettuce tomatoes, fried onions and mayo
  • One five-egg omelette
  • A bowl of grits
  • Three slices of French toast with powdered sugar
  • Three chocolate chip pancakes
  • Two cups of coffee
That's 4000 calories for breakfast!

LUNCH
  • 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks
  • One pound of pasta with tomato sauce
  • Two large ham, cheese and mayo sandwiches on white bread

DINNER
  • Six to eight slices of pizza
  • Another pound of pasta with tomato sauce
  • And wash it down with another 1,000 calories of energy drinks

All together...12,000 calories a day!

Quicksilver will become famous soon enoughQuicksilver will become famous soon enough
More than a complaint it was an observation about scheduling rather than the amount of content. I looked around to see what time the China/USA basketball game came on and all the programming guides which indicated times may have been correct but that's not what happend.

I decided to look for a rerun of the game and no network was carrying it. So if Joe Sixpack was looking for the game and didn't have Tivo the too bad.

I finally found the resource for the Game but even then the average person would not have found it without doing some digging.

I can record it all but I don't need to see it all. I would just like to know what time this or that comes on. I would like to know the exact hour Basketball comes on so i can record just that. Or what time volleyball comes on so i can record just that, or fencing, or whatever.

But that's not going to happen. And anyone else who doesn't have the resources to view the events later will not see them.

Last I checked, there are 4 (FOUR!) channels of Olympic coverage: NBC HD, UHD, MSNBC, and sometimes even CNBC. When I get tired of swimming, I just flip over to another channel to watch boxing or fencing. I think NBC has achieved good balance wih both live and taped events, considering the 12-hour time difference.
If you consider the sheer volume of events (30+ sports) it's impossible to cover every single match in every single sport, but I think they've captured a pretty big cross-section so far.

My one main complaint is the relentless onslaught of commercials, but that's been the case for every Olympics.
