Question What is up with Olympic TV Coverage?

One channel has this, another channel has that.
Still another channel has somethings else.
It's kinda crazy.

Who's sitting around watching
8 hours of Olympic coverage just to see one or
2 events?

I guess i haven't found the key to
individual programming.

USA Played Greece at 6:00 AM this morning?
Maybe my TV has a clock problem but for a game
touted to be of so much importance please tell me
why it played at 6:am when folks are going to work
or are at work.........

From here (where we have a Canadian feed, TSN, and a US NBC feed), seems like the programming plan is 50% women's beach volleyball, and 50% Michael Phelps swimming and strutting.

There are some other events fit in when Phelps is away from the pool, and the volleyball isn't on, but they don't get the same focus. Rowing has been good.

I might modify that to 33% volleyball, 33% Phelps and 33% odd little girls' gymnastics. In past Olympics it was 80% gymnastics and 20% human interest stories.

It is like NBC's cameras are mounted in concrete in the major venues and can't move around to show different events. And this goes for showing China itself. Cynics say they don't want to go out and about because they might come upon a protest and feel obligated to broadcast it, thus pissing off the government. See no evil...

I would like to see some outside scenery and all the minor sports. This is what makes the Olympics special. And, of course, sweaty scantily clad women with fine athletic bodies sprawling in hot sand.

I think NBC's coverage has been very good this year. Haven't seen anything but swimming, gymnastics, or vball though.

Except for the fact that the majority of their staff can't pronounce Beijing correctly.

they can't prenounce anything! they prenounce xiao as chao and qin and quin. you'd think if this were your job you'd be suited to at least prenounce names from all countries correctly.

Just use your DVR and fast forward through the stupid events. NBC has the best events with two other cable channels in my area covering badminton, hopscotch, jacks, hand slap and don't forget the Rock-Paper-Scissors finals.

Yep...My Comcast DVR is getting quite the workout. High-Def Olympic programming is sucking up all of the memory.
