Getting sick of the Fakes!! - Page 5

Most fakes involve re-badging a car to a 'higher' performance or price range. Crazy as it may sound, I have a FAKE but I'm doing the opposite.

I call it the anti-thesis of FAKES.

The car is a 1995 Mustang GT with 215Hp (at the engine) in stock form. For those unfamiliar with Mustangs here is what it looks like in car-show trim.

Now for the FAKING part: Except for car shows, it normally sports the Horse and Tri-Bar (non-Gt) badging of a base Mustang (170HP) as seen here:

Why bother? Mainly to hide the fact that thanks to Ford Racing parts - mainly aluminum heads, intake manifold, a supercharger and a custom tune, it now dynoes to 403HP (at the engine).

I like the idea of walking softly while carrying a big stick.

Last5...Nice...Thats what we call a "sleeper" here in the states..Looks like your ordinary car until...WHOOM!! you step on it... I am much in favor of this..

I agree. I bet you get more than a few guys that pull up next to you and think thy can walk all over you until you put your foot down. I would love to see the look on their faces.

Wolf in sheeps clothing. I have seen a few people drop M3 engines in their 325i's and keep all the 325i badging. I am completely on board with this type of faking as well. You are not trying to make it look like your car is more than it is and that is the true definition of posing, IMO.

Well, I saw a great "fake" today, which was pretty well done too.

It was an all white ML350 with the badging "ML35 AMG". Everything was in factory position and it was a pretty clean car. I so wish I had my camera that minute!
