Congratz, if you live in the US....

you're now the proud owner of the following:

1) Fannie/Freddie - two failed mortgage institutions with trillion dollar debts and you get to be the largest sub-prime lender on the planet, lucky you.

2) Financier of Bear Stearn buy out - failed investment firm

3) And newly appointed 85B backer of AIG - insurance firm with 1T debt.

Remember this when your taxes are universally increased in the coming years and you fall more and more in debt. You would think it would tell these so called 'officials' something when private banks say AIG is far to risky to back financially, but what do they know. Here is the trick, if you want a federal bailout (i.e. taxpayer money) just grow irresponsibly.

I for one can not wait for George Bailey to run down the street

Socialisim..here we come, ain't it grand. Get out your foil hats and buy some guns (while your government still allows you to have them), it isn't long now.

~ $800 Billion of taxpayer dough, (yours/mine), in the past year
used to bail these joints...just a running total of the obvious stuff.

Add in the monthly tab of the "war" in Iraq and the US has spent
more dough in the last few years than even the Mint can print...

Any reader here less than 50, will be paying for this and related
fiascos for the rest of their working lives.

For those of us that have a hard time relating to a "billion", some
comparos:
-A Million seconds is 11 1/2 days
-A Billion seconds is nearly 32 years
-A Trillion seconds, which that "$800 Billion" ref'd above, is approaching,
is nearly 32,000 years.

Good Luck, all.

LabGuy: You are sometimes seemingly delusional and a zealot, in your
addiction to the idea that McPain & Co. are going to rescue your/my
bacon, imo. They are all bums and none of them will fix this or, make
your life "better", imo.

Edit: can any discussion or info take place here without LabGuy turning it into
an ad for the "Republicans"?

Where in that post did I say McCain would be able to fix this? Fact is I'm not that big a fan of McCain nor do I think he will come close to fixing the mess we are in today. It was years in the making and will take years to fix IF the American people get a clue that we can't keep spending money that we don't have. McCain is the lesser of two evils and Obama is a tax and spend Liberal defined by his own short record and his economic plan. Spending and deficits don't mix especially in an economic downturn.

So please point out where in this paragraph above I'm wrong...

I'm waiting with baited breath.

No. You didn't mention McCain's name, but you tacitly implied that if Obama is elected president and the House and Senate are controlled by the dems, then we are S.O.L.

Using political buzzwords like Social Justice are dead-ringers, IMO.

In my opinion, possibly the only previous candidate that would have had a positive effect on taxes was Ron Paul. He may have been a bit extreme in his proposed tactics, but it would have remedied alot of problems. He would have just disbanded the agencies that were too broken to fix.
