Talking Our X5's 7th Birthday...

Our 2001 X5 turned 7 years old a weekish ago. It has been an outfookinstanding car for us these years.
-Built 8/01
-Delivered 9-15-2001
3.0, Sport, Prem, Cold, Activity, 5 speed manual, etc. Currently has 67,000+ miles on it.

It has been quite trouble free, knock on wood; other than yearly
oil changes, the list of "stuff fixed" is pretty short:

1-Nov. '01: recall for Aux Cooling Fan replacement
2-Jan '02: dead batt., towed in, spent a week at Stlr; they finally
dignosed and fixed the CD radio fault that would turn on radio below
37 degs and run down batt. SI# 65-12-01
3-August '05: Final Stage Resistor replaced and new front brake pad and rotors, under Extended Maintenance: ~45,000 miles
4-September '05: water pump replaced under about to expire oem warranty. ~45,500 miles.
5-Oct '07: orig. battery replaced, as precautionary item, by me.
6-"Insp ll", transaxle & manual transmission fluids, belt dampner changed
by an excellent Indie in Asheville. Also, the orig.rear brake pads & rotors were changed by them at that service. ~62,500 miles

Pretty damn glitch/repair free over the past 67K miles and 7 years, imo.

I suspect some items to fix will come up on the ol'jukebox in the next year or so, but overall, it has been a remarkable car and fairly problem free. New tires for the added 132s are due next spring.

Most of you have seen the hundreds of X5 pics I've put up here, but I took a batch of quick snaps on the X's birthday; no detail job, just a wash and the once a year Zaino job is good to go. So, some Birthday Pics of our old '01...I hope we get another fairly trouble-free 2-3 years out of the ol'
beast.
Thanks for looking.
