Need Advice on New "Boss"

I have an all day Dog and Pony with our new area Supervisor tomorrow. He seems Ok but has a definate "tool" streak through the middle. I have to drive him around to meet some people most of the day.

I have been advised not to take the X(freshly detailed) but a different car. My Explorer has come up 3 times. He drives an 07 Tundra.

What do you guys think?

Depends on what your objective is. If you want to stay on the good side and build a stronger career there, I'd take the explorer and get him to do most of the talking.

Get the company or team objectives out and ask him about which ones he is most focused on and how you can help. This might all sound like kissing up but if you are trying to grow your paycheck or a career trying to build a relationship with management is always a good move.

Never dress above or drive vehicles above what your management does in front of them. People are funny about these things and it can be a real CLM (career limiting move) if the guy is a tool.

View this as an opportunity. Good luck.

Thanks Guys.

It is nice and clean. Not suspiciously so, I hope. Left the dog leash, water and tennis balls.

He does seem to be a tool. I should react appropriately.

What sucks is we transferred from our Denver division, built a 30 million dollar facility down here. Up there, success was encouraged and accepted. They understood that making mo money for yourself led to personal satisfaction and mo money for them. Down here it is becoming a completely different culture. They seem to want success for the company, but limited personal success.

Very frustrating.
