The 'official' OS available changes with what carrier you have I believe? I have .78 on mine - was added by the desktop mannager software. I use Verizon btw.

If you do end up getting a storm here are the apps I recommend:
- WeatherBug - Weather report/weather alerts. Can use the built in GPS to give you local weather.
- Tiltris - Tetris app that you control using the 'tilt' feature of the phone (accelerometer).
- AP news - news app from AP.
- Youtube - use this to access youtube, instead of just going there in the browser since that will only load very low quality vids.
- StormLock - (costs ~$3) - Locks the screen while you are on calls. Without an app like this it is very easy to screw up a call if you hold the phone with your shoulder.

I found those apps on CrackBerry - there are more apps to choose from and its usually easy to find on the boards there if they are worth getting.

i don't remember a .78, but if you're in the US, the currently supported Verizon OS is .75.

You are right I had the OS and an app mixed up - I am running .75

Looks like people are getting fairly excited about .106 - hopefully it will be official soon - might alleviate some of the 'clunkyness' that people are seeing.

I have had my Storm for about a week now. Overall, I do like the phone and especially like how flawlessly it links with the Bluetooth in my M3. I have a Curve as well (for work) and find that the typing is easier on the Curve. Hopefully the new software will resolve the issues with typing. Does anyone know if/how you can get the SMS to show up on the nav screen? It just shows that the SMS is empty. Maybe the phone just does not support it but I found that when I had a phone paired that did not offer SMS support to the nav, the folder displayes "SMS Not Supported" instead of it saying the folder is empty.

I am running .78 but my phone is the unlocked Vodafone one. Also, I read that a 2 new updates have come out after the .78 one was officially released and one was a Leaked version. Anybody know how to update the software.

BTW, the Blackberry Storm is a wonderful phone and I like it a lot, but I still use the iPhone as my primary and BB Storm as the secondary.

StormLock is a must for the BB Storm because you end up pushing buttons (mostly mute) while talking. Only thing is, If stormlock is activated during a call, and I deactivate it to use the keypad, I don't see how you activate it again.

I will check those other apps out to see if their any good.

There are no official fw releases from verizon beyond .75. There are MANY leaked versions, but none are official and all have problems.

My phone is Vodafone, and it is stock. Is it safe to upgrade the firmware or no? I heard official versions were released but am not sure.
