Hey California Drivers.......

New legislation authorizes the Department of Motor Vehicles to increase the Vehicle License Fee (VLF) from 0.65 percent to 1.15 percent when registration fees are due on or after May 19, 2009.

Of course you already knew that but here's something you may not have known. If you are due to pay within the next 75 days you can find out how much you're going to owe by going to this link. https://mv.dmv.ca.gov/FeeCalculatorWeb/renewalForm.do

I can't see what I owe because my next fees are not due
for quite a while. It would be interesting to find out how much
it's going to go up for some of you especially if you have a 2005 X

The taxes and fees we pay in California are ridiculous. I would not mind if we had the best roads and public schools in the Country. Truth is we are almost dead last in education and our roads are crumbling. We pay the most for the worst...At least the weather is nice.

Apparently not ridiculous enough. People keep
coming to California but few are leaving. MWBATR.....

So True. It's stupid what we put up with. Each time I drive the 10fwy to Palm Desert I wonder what exactly they do to maintain the road as my car is driving on 2 different levels of road and shaking like crazy. Totally horrible.

This state seriously sucks... How about you fire 50% of the Gov't employees?

Since we don't pay the necessary taxes on our homes to keep the state running, the money has to come from somewhere.

About $50...our 2001 X5 passed with no problems. Emissions were all very, very low.

Don't forget we have sales taxes going up too. If people were having trouble making car payments, you can bet this will make it worse.
