3G ~ 412MHz processor 128MB Ram
3GS ~ 600MHz processor 256MB Ram

My bad. Bad info from this website: Fastest Processor - Cell Phones Top List

According to Wikipedia, the Original & 3G both had Samsung 32-bit RISC ARM 1176JZ(F)-S v1.0 620 MHz underclocked to 412 MHz while the 3GS has an ARM Cortex-A8 833 MHz underclocked to 600 MHz.

I didn't know the 3G was also underclocked.

I still don't see what the concern is about over the 3GS's CPU. Every PDA phone I ever owned rose in temperature through voice use, as opposed to processor use. With both my past Treo phones and my current HTC Touch Pro, I could surf the internet for hours without the phone getting hot, but a 1 hour conversation turns the cellphone into a live charcoal briquet. The solution has always been bigger capacity batteries to decrease resistance.

Wouldn't that be the same scenario for iPhone heat issues?

Actually I'm not sure that "Apple acknowledges iPhone 3GS overheat issue"

Funny thing is my beloved wife bought an BB 8900.
She had 2 reasons #1 she uses her cell phone a lot
at home and she was not satisfied with AT&T at home
using her old Razr. #2 she didn't want the data plan with
the iPhone (Right... Like she pays for it..haha) But the most
compelling reason was the ability to use the BB's UMA feature
with our network at home. So she's happy. Yeah my iPhone
works at home but the BB using UMA is much much better.

She has run into some draw backs with her BB and she's
going to cancel the data plan soon so I guess she's
willing to live with those issues.

I was trying to get her to take my 3G Iphone and I was going
to get a new one. But she put the kabash on that idea.
She just laughed and said you just want to give me your
old phone so you can get a new one. Of course
my answer was "WHO ME".... ..

I think that the landscape keyboard makes the iphone virtual keyboard 100x better than any of my old blackberries, with a full or abbreviated keyboard. Especially since I can substitute a foreign keyboard with a single keystroke, its quite nice. I kind of can't text with the old style keyboard anymore...

Just get a black iPhone 3GS and you won't see discoloration. I believe BB has got the best physical keyboards.

The discoloration you are referring to is an anomaly. I have never seen that before. The phone does not get hot during normal operation, period.
