[QUOTE=E61Silver;775284]I just got a pair of S Works road shoes, they are a big improvement over my old SDIs.
I have the s-works shoes for both mtb and road. I LOVE THESE SHOES!!!! I think that all the specialized bg fit stuff is great. I also use a specialized saddle which I love. I am a raving fan of their stuff!! One note/recommendation for taking them off. I was told when loosening the boa top strap to pull the cord and help it when it gets slack and stops clicking. As well, I take the top boa strap off its track to take the shoe on/off. When I put it back on I lace the boa strap back on and ratchet it down. I am talking about taking the wire off its track on the non boa side. Lately the top boa on the left shoe isn't making as strong of a ratcheting sound when I tighten it down. I think I will blow it out with some compressed air and see if that helps. Maybe some gunk is in the mechanism? |

Most of my clothing is Sugoi. Good stuff, high tech, and a local company as well.

I like Performance bib shorts, low cost and as comfortable as my Pearl that cost twice as much.

Purchased carbon wheels for the bike, $950 at Bonktown. Funny how the mod bug has hit me with regard to cycling.

Nice! Bonktown is very addictive!! I competed in the Dawn till dusk mtn bike race this weekend in Phoenix, AZ. It was a great weekend of camping and our team did well!

I just did chain, cassette, bottom bracket bearings, chain rings, bar tape, and a tire on the Trek. Also a tire on the Cervelo. Now both are put away for the season. The Park Tools work stand came in very handy. I bought a nice selection of Park Tools special wrenches as well, for cassettes and bottom brackets.
I have been thinking that it would be worth having a nice city bike, something for commuting and the off season. I am imagining a steel frame, 700-28 or 32 tires, drop bars, an Alfine 11 speed IGH, a Gates carbon drive belt, Avid mechanic disk brakes, a Brooks saddle, full fenders, a rear rack, and a dynamo hub with lights. This would be an ultra-low maintance bike. The hub has just been released, 409% range, oil bath. The belt will restrict frame choices, as the frame needs a cutout to get the belt into the rear triangle. Not sure if I would have to build this up, or buy something close and change components as necessary. Also reading about studded tires for bikes. Not sure I want to go that far though.

My buddy was in Victoria the other week. He took his bike with so he could keep up on his training. The pictures of his rides were pretty dramatic. Riding in snow, ice, sleet, rain, mud etc...... Some extreme road riding for sure! Needless to say his bike has been completely taken apart and cleaned since his return home. The riding in Phoenix has been absolutely great lately. For the cold weather I have been using some of Rapha's Embrocation cream. You rub it on your skin and it keeps you warm. I definitely recommend it. But be aware that after this is on your hands, what ever you touch on your body will get very warm! So, chamois cream first haha. |

Took my first ride with my new wheels and they seemed to provide a harder ride than my old Easton Circuits. However I also changed tire and was running Gator Skins so I don't know if the ride is related to wheels or the tire, it is probably both. The harder ride is not so bad that I would go back to the Eastons, though I will try a pair of Conti Attacks in the spring. During the cold weather the extra flat protection of the Gator Skins seems more important than a harder ride.
They do seem more efficient at high speed and head wins. I was able to hold 21 mph on a long flat section with very little effort.
