on the road again 2009 fall

it's that time again for my migration back to South Carolina - my X5 goes in for it's 'pre-Xcountry inspection' on Tuesday - leaving next Friday and should pass thru Kansas City, St. Louis, Nashville, Chattanooga enroute to Oktoberfest in Atlanta (with a possible stop to take pics of the UP railroad yard in Platte, Nebraska) where I should be on Tuesday 29 Sept thru 4 Oct, before continueing on to SC - if anyone's planning to attend Oktoberfest, drop me a line. Maybe we can create a mini get together. Hope all that rain in the SE has moved on out by then. In the mean time, drive safe and remember my rule #1 - nobody gets hurt

Have fun! Im planning a 4-day trip to Texas next week. To Houston on wednesday, then to San Antonio Saturday, then Dallas sunday on the way back. So how many miles will your trip be?

about 2300-2400 miles - a bit shorter than if I was driving I-80 to NJ - of course you can do that much, and more, just in Texas, without ever traveling through a town twice

Went thru flight training at NAS Kingsville - took a whole day's driving just to get near another state.

Wishing you a good, safe trip, Mark!

ChuckTown is still steaming...why not hang around ID a lil' longer?
If you get near Waynesville, NC/ BRPkway (western end), drop a dime
or PM and maybe we can hook up.
Good Luck, mD

Migrate down here with the birds and you can have a few more months.

time to leave Idaho - temps at night are starting to drop to freezing

Leaving late Friday night for a 700+mile jaunt to my 1st stop North Platte, NE to take pics of the largest UP railroad yard

2nd will be east of Kansas City, MO, depending on weather(hail? tornados? floods?) & how far I want to push it - 9/22 edit in 'floods?'

3rd is just south of Nashville, TN. hopefully before rush hour

next Tuesday is a (relatively) short drive to Lake Lanier Lakes where I p/u my registration to Oktoberfest - Thursday Autocross where me and my X5 takeon M5s and other big bimmers

visit with friends east of Atlanta on Sat, and home on Sunday - will post pics when I get home
