Just left Georgia and it seriously wasn't fun. The rain/humidity/hot weather was horrid. Send it to So-Cal we need it!

In some areas it has rained nearly 24 inches in the last week. I spent 3 hours today vacuuming water out of my basement. Luckily, it is unfinished. I have a 12 gallon shop-vac and I had to empty it 7 times, if that tell you how bad it was raining. I don't live in a flood hazard area or anyhting. That was just water making its way under my door from an over flowing guter.

Yep, when all of this stops, I am having all of my gutters replaced - crappy 4" gutters the builder put on just aren't cutting it (even with normal rain)!!

Not to push this into the political forum, but people were calling this morning on the radio saying that their houses were flooded, but previously when they had gone to FEMA to get flood insurance they were denied because they were not officially in a flood plain.

Hmmmmm, sounds like rationing to me!!

Here in NC, we copped "flood insurance" from our home owner's policy, even though
at 5k feet on a mtn ridge, this isn't a "flood plain". The 10 pages of fine print is not
exactly user friendly or, on "our side", but it is fairly inexpensive and offers some
protection for us here. At our FL joint, we passed on the FEMA bs programs and
got a very good "flood" rider, for both outside/inside, for a couple hundred bucks
a year, from our homeowner policy company.

No idea of those peoples' complaints but nearly every ins co. on the planet offers
some kind of flood insurance, if they had dug into their home owner's policy offerings, imo...
I would take a Pasadena on FEMA's "deal", if one has an option and, most do, imo.

We have subsided to a drizzle here, and I'm hoping the sun burns through the mile
thick fog and we see the sun, briefly, for the first time in a week. On my daily early
morning hump around the mtn, the erosion is as bad as I've seen since the 'Canes
of '04. If it wasn't for all the lush growth this year, soaking up some of the rainfall,
we might have tested our Mtn Joint's ability to slide down the slope.

Help is on the way - by the time I get out there, it should all be gone - bringing sunshine and beautiful days with me from Idaho - Normally, I'd ask for monetary contributions to come out there sooner to help clear out the bad weather - but the other valve cover is leaking and it's scheduled for repair Fri am - so I won't be there 'til Tuesday - sorry

Hurry up, they need the break... some Atlanta areas are looking like down here after Katrina.
The flooding in Mableton Ga. is front page news in most of the country.... My sympathy to anyone affected by the flooding, I know it all too well.

The Weather Channel had an hour plus, last eve, on the ATL metro situ with
amazing home vids and reports from all around the area. Fookin amazing
destruction and speed of the rising waters. This morning we saw an unusual
sight in the sky: Mr Sun rising above the lake of thick fog in the valley in the
valley below us; 1st time we had seen the sun in 8 days. Good Luck to any
poster in the flooded areas.

That reminds me: I gotta dig out those style 69s and clean them up for pics, if you still have an interest.

I have not seen rain like this since Hurricanes Ivan & Frances hit us a week apart, back in 2004. Not windy this time, but serious azz rain fall amounts up here on these 40-55 degree slopes. I may sleep with my clothes and shoes on tonight. Serious stuff.
Blow drying a car in the garage must be something to see and hear.
