Matt, Like a 360 hp, barely 3000 lb geezer hot rod it is!

The only glitch was the ECBM module that often goes haywire on Vettes; I got
it R&R'd last winter at a Vette specialist indie in Ft Myers, FL. Other than oil
changes, a set of tires, and fluids swapped last winter, it has been problem
free. Still knocks off 30+ mpg on road trips, hauls 2 sets of golf clubs and soft
luggage for a week trip, carves the BRPkway weekly, and just fookin runs.
~35k miles, and it may be the most fun/best car I've ever owned.

Nice X5... at 8 yrs and still looking good as the day you got it. Noticed its a stick-shift too. Was that an option?

Nice specimen of American V8 muscle too! Love the Vette rear pic. Shows what the other driver mostly sees. Its nice that NC does not require a front plate. Is "1USA" a custom plate?

Looks good. Mine turned 8.5 years old in August--I have a little more at 91K miles. Like you I've had really nothing major on repairs.

Last5oh,
Yes, no front plate in NC! And, my "USA1" plate is a vanity plate and
done via a "regional" plate program; in my case it was support the
Blue Ridge Parkway. The colors and design are horrible and they have
since gone to a slightly better looking regional plate for the BRPkway.

It isn't the fastest car on the planet, but for the price and utility capabilities,
and its never running out of breath in the 80s, 90s, 100s, it is a remarkable
car.

The 5 spd manual in our X, came only with the 3.0 and only sold in the
hundreds for the few years it was offered. Then, the slightly better 6 spd
was offered, (which also sold sparingly), and then discontinued with the
E70.

R8DX5: Hey Clint, good to read you! Thought you had hit the freakin lotto
and left us!

Thanks for all the kind words and views.
BR, mD

MD,
That's one fine example of the fantastic E53. Bet you've had some fun with that manual box
As usual excellent pics in an excellent setting of an excellent car.

Happy birthday, well done.

PS: Love the Vette.

Bernie

She truly is a beauty. Well kept, clean, and maintained.

I am on my 7th year........and when I see posts like this it alleviates the pain of all the horror stories that one might read here.

So........here is to many more Bdays with the X!

A Late Happy Birthday to my twin (except for the Manual T)

You know, yesterday a friend passed by to pick me up in his new FX35 05... It surely looked futuristic much more than the E53, and it sounded sweet and is really fast... but when I was inside, I could unmistakably feel the Japanese typical ride... So I thought to myself: Hyundai and Kia sometimes make a design like space ships but do they compare to BMWs when it comes to the ride quality and driving experience?

When I got home, I smiled and winked at my E53 as it sat there in the driveway with all it's robustness and agressivity
