Well, I get to go sit outside tonight in the midst of Global Warming, while my son's high school soccer team runs around freezing! I will at least be well insulated, and have a small propane heater at my feet. He and the rest of the boys will be trying to play a summer sport in 35 degree F weather.

Sports in colder weather is fine as long as the players are appropriately dressed. Like i said, I go running when it's well below freezing outside and after the initial "omgitsf*ingcold" it's really not bad at all.

I have passed on chasing the ball since last Monday...However, I have cabin fever and, a Tee Time at 7:51 AM tomorrow morning.
I will wear shorts, as I always do, but I suspect I will look like the Michelin Man from the waist up.

The local TV weather knucklehead reported that Ft Myers Beach, just up the road, had water temps of 48 F this morning; it's the lowest
reported there in decades of record keeping. Meanwhile, the canals of Naples and Cape Coral are full of dead or near torpid fish, of all species,
due to the extremely cold water temps.

My Zone 10 plant stuff is suffering, but alive; no such luck for the many farmers around the area and, throughout the state. ChillyFookinWilly.

I used that old trick many times in the past with my old 4x4s without any problems, but they were ford broncos, not a BMW X5... Maybe I'm not thinking about it enough, but how does the tireshine in the wheel wells get on the brakes? I've never seen or heard of that problem and have seen many people keep the wheel wells car show clean with tire shine applied with every wash...

Any tips/tricks or better options to keep the mud from sticking? I had so much mud stick in my rims and furthermore freeze to the rims that I couldn't drive over 30mph without shaking all over the place and I couldn't hose it out... Had to scrape it out of my rims with a stick before going on the highway home.

Also, I found a great deal on a set of 18" wheels with brand new condition michelin energy m+s tires! So I'll at least be better equipped next time I go to the camp. (as I'll be going there often this year)

When I went on my ski trip last week, it was cold enough that snow/slush froze on the insides of my wheels, throwing them off balance. I had to use the screwdriver from the toolkit and chip it all off.

Never heard of having to do this?

Normally tires heat-up after you drive.

After driving 10 miles I still had large chunks of ice over 3/8's an inch thick inside my rims that I had to knock out with a stick... all from driving in an icy/muddy road.

maybe tyre shine is ok
I sprayed a silicone solution on arches , drove in rain 2 days later and noticed poor brake performance .
I washed away as much as possible , drove around getting the brakes hot to burn off the contaminants .
