Never been to Boston.

Is a rental car out of the question? I'm staying at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers and have business at the Harvard campus and Mass General Hospital.

Any suggestions on things to do and places to eat? I've got some my time Monday evening, Tuesday morning and evening leaving Wed early AM.

How is the Airport? Nuts I expect. SFO is easy because I'm flying Virgin which is in the International terminal. There are only two domestic airlines in that terminal so I usually walk right up to the counter and get to the gate in about 15-20 minutes which includes security. That might have changed after the pantie bomber but I expect it won't be much harder. They have an optional Naked scanner device which most avoid choosing to go the metal detector route. I could care less...

Boston is awesome, go there for work from time to time. I wouldn't mess with a car, the T (subway) is very good and gets you around town very easy. If you have been to NYC the T in Boston is a piece of cake compared to their subway system.
If you get a chance and you like seafood Anthony's in the seaport district is very good, it used to be frequented by JFK and other famous folks. If you are adventurous they have a pretty well developed china town as well with tons of great places to eat.

I'd forgo the car, too. For the rental fee + parking, you can easily get around via cab. The T is even less expensive and usually faster, but it depends, plus it can be a pain in the ass if you're going to Cambridge (Harvard is huge and is in many locations). Virgin arrives in Terminal E; Logan is actually a really easy airport once you get there , so I wouldn't anticipate any problems on arrival.

Hints on what you'd like to do or eat? Boston's not terribly large, but you do have a large amount of dining and entertainment options in a reasonably small and walking-accessible radius from your hotel. I'm sure there's something that will fit what you'd like, and I'd be happy to help.

I think thats only international, but I haven't flown Virgin America.

I think that driving in Boston is fun. Especially if you take some speed before you hit 128

Here are a few of my favorite boston restaurants:

Hamersley's Bistro, 553 Tremont St: The best roasted chicken you will ever eat.

O Ya, 9 East Street: Japanese, expensive, & worth every penny. 82 items on menu. Great music, ie Stones.

Neptune Oyster, 63 Salem St: Seafood, just an awesome spot. Lobster Roll is a killer and you can have it hot or cold.
Neptune is in North End, walk to Modern Pastry for espresso & desert.

B & G Oysters, 550 Tremont St: Great oysters, chowder, fried claims, BLT lobster roll.

L'Espalier, 774 Boylston St: French, best french in the city. period. Great cheeses.

Oishii, 1166 Washington St: Sushi, Japanese, incredible.

Spent the Holidays in SF and ate at: Masa's, Hog Island Oyster, Delfina, Salt House, Zuni, Campton Place, Cafe de la presse and Chez Panisse.

Flew Virgin to SF, and it was a breeze in Boston, too.

So I got in late last night and decided to walk around to check out the places to eat near the hotel. It was very cold considering I'm from California and the wind really took a bite of my face on the walk. Needless to say I did not get far. There was a place called Skipjacks seafood that looked clean so I decided to get out of the cold and eat there.

Clam Chowder was good but the meal totaled $120 eating alone and at that price I want to be dazzled. Tonight I'm getting a Taxi and expect to eat well for half that price.

Whoa, you had $120 dinner by yourself in Boston? That's tough to do without a big bottle of wine or at least at Capital Grille.

2lb Lobster tail, appetizers, cup of clam chowder and two grey goose martinis. The lobster was $42 a pound so that's where the money was spent.

I'm just headed out the door to Hamersley's Bistro. Which was 1st on ackx5's list.
