I am. If you are a good coach you will get the job. Not every caucasian NFL franchise owner is a racist. Some actually do want to hire the best coach and win games.

Althouth you asked this question to Quick, I'll take a stab at it.

The Rooney rule has its purpose. It is in place to ensure that teams at least consider minority coaches. It is not a mandate to hire or a quota system. Without the rule, we may not have had Lovie (2006 Super Bowl appearance), Lewis (2009 NFL Coach of the Year), and Tomlin (2009 Super Bowl Champion)... all who have proven to be good coaches (Not to mention Dungy who is not a product of the Rooney Rule). Sure, you have your Romeo Crennel's, but he had a terribel team to start with and was fired after 3 short years. However, as those coaches continue to succeed, there will be a day when the rule will not be necessary.

The Rooney rule has already become perfunctory as illustrated by Seattle's hiring of Pete Carrol. Everyone knew that Carrol would be Seattle's next coach, but they had to interview a minority candidate. Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier declined an opportunity to interview for the job because he knew that the session would merely represent an attempt to satisfy the rule that one minority candidate be interviewed.

I used to listen to this guy Tom Leykis, kind of like a Howard Stern, but more of the topcs were about sex and anti-marriage/religion based coversations. www.leykisonline.com Listen to the Leykis 101 and Ask the Athiest online recordings...always gave me a good laugh.

Anyways, over years of listening to his show, I remember how he was speaking w/ doctors about health care reform, schooling of doctors, etc and there we're people who made comments along the lines of how affirmative action has required employeers to hire people to keep a quote of races instead of who best fit the position. So either you can have the guy who went to the best college in the nation, or maybe they hired the guy who went to the best college in his country, but is working from 20yr old technology...but at least the company kept its quota. Awesome world we live in.

We are talking about the same affirmative action for bankers, farmers, and entitlements. correct?

Perhaps some history might help.

The post World-War II Marshall Plan, a plan that provided billions of dollars for training and jobs, was a massive affirmative action plan for Europe. Former enemies got free training programs in Europe that were denied Black GIs at home in America.

Remember folks, many so called African American organizations developed because of exclusion from mainstream organizations not from their own desires. The negro baseball league was formed simply because blacks were not allowed to participate in MLB not because they wanted to be separate.

I remember seeing "colored only" water fountains in Richmond, VA as a kid- the nerve of those coloreds costing the city all that money demanding their own fountains that only they could drink out of- always wanting special treatment .

How about the Miss Black America pagent, not because of a desire to form their own pagent, they were not allowed in the regular (white pagent). Times have changed thank God. The NAACP has had white members going back to it's founding. Wouldn't it be nice if the NAACP was never needed in the first place, we all know the history though. Sammy Davis Jr. recalls that back in the early '60s the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas drained the pool after Lena Horne's daughter swam in it- not all that long ago.

Times have changed, yet look how many of these organizations and funding programs remain. Personally I don't care because it doesn't affect me, all I'm saying is if a white guy made something obviously named to compete w/ BET, like WET, there would be rioting in the streets. I treat everyone the same, it's most people who still categorize themselves w/o the need for me to do it for them.

done making their pitch it dies a natural death because everyone
knows where their coming from and nobody takes them seriously.......
