Damn Weasel, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully any surgery you undergo will be successful and get you back on your feet as soon as possible. Did you do anythng to possibly aggravate your back or are you just "lucky"? Not sure if it would help your comfort now or post surgery, but I do a lot of sitting in front of the computer for work and I swear by is this;

Tush Cush - 1-800-451-6206

It is designed to alleviate some of the pressure that sitting causes your spine. It doesn't look that sexy sitting on top of my office chair, but it did make my back feel better and I am no oldster either at 31 years old.

Seth, no I didn't do anything that aggrevated it, just lucky I guess. It's my upper back right by the neck that has the problem, not the lower back. So i'm not sure a pillow would help at all in my case as so far I've had no lower back pain.

Ah...yeah, upper back/neck. For some reason I just think of that darn cushion when I hear anything related to spine compression. Anyway, I hope you get to feeling better.

Weasel,
So sorry to hear of your 'luck'. Like MD says, you've got youth on your side which will hopefully get you through this a lot quicker. Hope the pain levels don't get too high.

Now I can't really offer a back/neck cushion to help with aforementioned pain/discomfort but the below alternative cushion should get your mind off current situ and put a smile on your dial

Good luck mate

Weasel - sorry to hear bro. I've had some serious ruptured disk issues and before you go the surgery route, get to a doctor who performs spinal injections.

Although mine is lower back, the injection of cortisone (called an Epidural Injection) immediately decreased pain and inflammation. It shrinks the disc tissue and relieves the pressure on the nerve. Got it twice and cured my significant pain. I was ready to get surgery in my mind, the pain was so bad. Then my doctor suggested this route to see if it would work and I avoided surgery.

It is absolutely worth seeing a specialist in this to see if this is a recommended treatment for your condition.

No fun at all, good luck and keep us posted.

I feel ya' pain...i assume it may be partly attributable to your work? I Experience similar symptoms (slipped disk) off & on due to sport injuries, dirt bike accidents, etc. Have been prescribed more meds' than i can count. A combination of chiropractor every 3 months, Swedish/sports massage once a month really helps. I was sceptical about this for some time (hate needles) but recently gave acupuncture a try and it does wonders
