I still wonder: how bad could it be? I think driving my X3 makes me think that *everyone* should be able to get through storms like this. I think this time, it's really the wind that's creating problems. The powdery snow is not difficult to drive on.

I don't know how state agencies rate the road conditions, but there definitely is a discrepancy between Northern VA and rest of VA. The 511 VDOT website lists highways and roads in Northern VA as "severe- deep snow/ice" but looking at cameras, they're not terrible. I noticed that here, a snow/slush-covered road is always classified as "minor", with about 3-5" (<15cm) of roadway accumulation as "moderate", and severe actually means "barely passable". Those silly Northern Virginia people, always overreacting...........

I should have left the X3 for my parents

Well I have to say....we fared quite well in Hartford! We have maybe an inch on the ground so far, maybe we won't get a lot and it will all stay south

A couple pics of Snowmageddon 2010 in Pittsburgh...

Snow was 19" deep after the first storm (all the daytime pics)
then we got another 6" yesterday (the last night time pic)

Lets just say.. I never want to shovel anything ever again!!

It's funny how high the snow got on your sideview mirrors. :p

Virginia Beach got a dusting... I would like a snow day (preferably Tuesday to make a four day weekend!)

I just hope most of you guys are parking the X's inside...all these horror stories of OSV valves freezing, from minor smoking and CEL lights to hydrolocking motors from the massive amounts of oil flooding in the engine.

We got a total of around 4.5'...woohoo. Created nice drifts of 6' or better. Can's see parts of my fence anymore.

I was feeling a little left out looking at all these beautiful photos of the snow, but we had a "blizzard" here today. Well, at least it is something.
