Exclamation Warning about Sony BMG copy protected CD's

Do not install the player on Sony BMG CD's. It contains a Rootkit that not only contains spyware it opens security risks for viruses to piggy back on. To top it off it's brutal to uninstall.

I'm boycotting all Sony products as of today.

I am with you 100%. I haven't dealt with this BS but I was already bent out of shape from my Dave Matthews Band CD that can't be loaded on to my iPod not played on my PC. There are ways around it but I shouldn't have to do anything special to listen to music I bought.

I think the only Sony product I would buy is one of their televisions. Everything else is nothing special anymore.

They are abusing the trust most consumers put in their brand name. Typical Sony arrogance. They were arrogant about Betamax - it died. They are arrogant about Blue-ray - we'll see what happens. Now they have the arrogance to think that consumers who paid for the CD will put up with cloaked spyware that is poorly written, trashes your system and opens up security holes.

I predict they're going to loose this battle big time. There's already a backlash of customers cancelling their TV orders over this and the news hasn't hit mainstream media yet.

let's not forget the mini disc...sony could have ruled the entertainment world if it weren't for their arrogance on that matter also.

Ah yes, mini disc is great technology. Bonehead product strategy.
