surround front speakers

Need input on the latest choices by all you techs on what you would buy now
for your two fronts. Cheapest to most expensive, brand etc...
Gotta buy some soon and just getting started. I have a Yamaha HTR-5790
tuner.

i love my setup... pioneer elite tuner with definitive tech mythos lineup... right now its a 5.1 but i can easily add another 2 for the 7.1 and even pair up the subs so it's really a 7.2 system. both my receiver and my bd source (ps3) can output hd 7.1 sound.

not much of an audiophile as i'm really tone deaf, but i love the way this sounds

I'd suggest Klipsch - for the money they are hard to beat.

Got our speakers hooked up to a Yamaha HTR as well - worked out very well - especially pleased with the multi ch input which is perfect for true 5.1 from the PC

Our front speakers are Synergy F2's. Most serious audiophiles say their weak point is classical music - but I am not capable enough to make that distinction - just know they sound good to me Don't think they make them any more - but would definatly get their newer models today if I had to.

What type of speakers are you looking for? In-wall, on-wall, bookshelf, floor standing, sound bars, etc? Does it matter?

I went with Premier Acoustic PA-8Fs Titaniums (towers). Great bang for the buck. Sound great with my Denon AVR-2310ci.

That is the best thing to do.

I wanted to suggest that you take a look at Jamo (pronounced Ya Mo).

Home

They are owned by the Klipsch Group and have received many accolades, but are not very well known in the U.S.. The only reason I know of them is because my friends family owns a home theater company and it was their brand of choice until the recently switched to SpeakerCraft.

I personally have the A 360 left/right/center soundbar with their Sub 300. It sounds amazing even without the rears. Hopefully I will get those soon. I have them hooked up to a 4 year old Harman Kardon AVR 340.

Here are my speakers...

SUB 300 Subwoofer - Description

Here is a link to a Jamo thread from Twins AV site posted above...

^ B&W's and JL audio...very nice. Like the set up.

That middle (or supposed to be middle) canned light would drive me crazy though.

My dad has B&W CDM7SE towers and they sound incredible - definitely can't go wrong there.

Personally I have Klipsch Reference towers and they also sound really good. Not like the B&Ws but it is hard to find fault with them.

Another brand to keep an eye on is Paradigm. Similar price range as Klipsch with equally good sound via a different tone.

Nothing beats your own ears though - go to as many shops as you can and audition different brands in different rooms, see if the shop will let you listen to a pair in your home so you can really hear them.
