I wonder how much Verizon had to pay Apple to have CDMA exclusivity? Usually, Verizon & Sprint have the same or similar phones, as the two big CDMA carriers. Yet, all the talk seems to be that ATT will continue to be the only GSM provider (in the USA) for the iPhone, and Verizon will own the CDMA side. T-Mobile and Sprint are being kept out even longer, it seems.

Verizon iPhone is for people who are on Verizon who want an iPhone. Using voice and data at the same time may be an advantage for some, but not really a killer feature. If your CDMA phone is in an area with wifi, then you can still be using voice and data at the same time. This will be rectified when the Verizon iPhone 5 with LTE comes out this October.

FWIW, I read on Engadget (?) that the deal with Apple and Verizon is NON-EXCLUSIVE so it could be offered to Sprint. The issue with both Verizon and Sprint is the massive cost to the carrier for the purchase of the handsets. Supposedly Verizon will pay about $600 each and as we all know, carriers heavily subsidize the handsets to get users committed to long term contracts.

I am a pretty happy Sprint customer and would be interested in an iPhone if Sprint ever gets them. If they don't, I doubt I will give up my reasonably priced plan to get nickled and dimed by Verizon.

I am in the same boat. I would probably get a Sprint iPhone for my son, who loves his iPod Touch. For myself, I will stick with Blackberry a while longer.

If an iPhone came to Sprint I would have to get a couple. Apple is a smart company. They are in the business of making and selling products and making billions. They would make more money selling to more carriers. It can and has been done too. Canada has 5 different carriers that sell iPhones. The only question is whether other carriers can afford it. For Sprint, the other issue is its network technology and whether Apple can and will make a WiMax version for Sprint.

The big winner here are not the consumers. It's Apple.
