How important is the carrier network? The iPhone 5 may solve that question. How about dual radio chips, possibly enabling it to run on multiple providers' networks, such as the GSM networks from AT&T and T-Mobile, and the CDMA/EV-DO networks from Verizon and Sprint Nextel. Read on...........

It's not "old news" when Consumer Reports came out today about it---meaning CR has a broader impact when they report something than the smaller publication from that link.

It's insignificant news in that Consumer Reports will not change the broader decision making public from buying what they want.

But it's not good PR in general if there are more reports about the signal issue--whether it's CR or someone else. I'm not a big fan of CR by any means.

So I highly doubt that CR's (or anybody else's) bandwagoning sensationalism will have any noticeable negative impact on VZ's iPhone sales.
Of course they will still sell. Toyota Prius will still sell even though the issues it had. I just think it's funny how Apple Fanboys get defensive when you point out their product might have defects. Apple only makes a whopping 2 phones (that are basically the same)--they should be expected to have no issues.
